Dr. Stacy Lomeli (1968 – 2014) lived the life of an educator. A graduate of UCLA (1991) with a bachelor of science in biology, she furthered her education with a doctorate degree in dentistry from UCSF (San Francisco in 1995). Her passion was in the field of dentistry.

Stacy began her career teaching at UCSF after graduation and and went into private practice as a general dentist. She also ventured into forensic dentistry with additional training at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology in Bethesda, MD. Her calling for teaching continued, and in 2006 she applied for a position at OHSU. She was accepted, and her career blossomed. In her time at OHSU she became a member of the faculty practice, sat on the Admissions Committee, was an instrumental contributor to the reorganization of the student clinics and was charged with leading a Group Practice of dental students.Within her 45 years on this earth she accomplished her life’s dreams – A career, husband and son she loved. In turn, she gave loving care and support to her husband, son, and patients and mentored her students toward becoming successful professionals. Through her uncompromising commitment to teaching and patient care and with support from OHSU administration she set higher standards for the OHSU School of Dentistry.

Stacy was married to Pete Peterson on October 10th, 2004 at the Byington Winery in Los Gatos, California. They moved to West Linn, Oregon in 2006 and gave birth to PJ on February 13th, 2009. She put as much love and commitment into her family as she did in her career, and PJ was the light of her life and her greatest accomplishment.

Outside of her professional activities, PJ and Pete were her world. Autumn, with all of its fall colors, was her favorite time of year, and she often enjoyed the greater outdoors which included traveling, hiking, and park visits. Stacy also had a love for collecting miniature chairs and enjoyed knitting, photography, reading a good book and curling up in front of the fireplace with her family on a rainy day.

Stacy was a member of West Linn Lutheran Church, being baptized on November 17, 2013, and sharing in PJ’s baptism in December.

She was a caring and loving individual with a carefree smile. In her final days she was surrounded by loving friends and family and will be missed by all who had the good fortune of knowing her gentle ways.

Stacy is survived by her husband Peter, her son PJ, Dee and Pete Peterson (mother and father in law), Sandra and Joseph Lomeli (mother and father), Michelle Stroud (sister), and Brian Lomeli (brother).
